Ashton’s antics

Yes it is time for the annual England v Wales rugby showdown!

The “picking nearly all the Ospreys team” experiment might just work in the Welsh favour.

The England team though…?

15 Iain Balshaw
14 Paul Sackey
13 Mike Tindall
12 Toby Flood
11 David Strettle
10 Jonny Wilkinson
9 Andy Gomarsall

1 Andrew Sheridan
2 Mark Regan
3 Phil Vickery
4 Simon Shaw
5 Steve Borthwick
6 James Haskell
7 Lewis Moody
8 Luke Narraway

Lee Mears
Matt Stevens
Ben Kay
Tom Rees
Richard Wigglesworth
Dan Cipriani
Lesley Vainikolo

The walking injury clinic that is Iain Balshaw picked ahead of the mercurial Matthew Tait?

Balshaw seems to have some naughty photos or some magic spell on every England coach, maybe he can hypnotize people into selecting him! Tait was apparently dropped because he had a poor game for Newcastle v Leicester last week –on that basis Balshaw should never be selected….!!!!

We have a weak back 3. Strettle is really off-form at the moment, although to be fair Strettle has been carted around wing and centre by Quins this season, while Sackey seems to do better for England than he does at club level.

We have a very inexperienced back-row, but quite an abrasive one!

Moody v Williams should be fun and Haskell brings an edge! Like Narraway and hope he does well (despite being Glos!). Stevens should be playing and Vickery should be retired and to be fair much as I hate saying it Mears should be playing instead of Regan.

The bench is the best bit, with and I like having Vainikolo on the bench as an impact sub but I do wonder if this game is going to go our way?

With Ashton’s selection madness, I doubt it very much!

I’m happy as i got a photo published that i took in Wellington. Its now on the Schmap interactive travel guide; see link on the right.

Its of the Basin Reserve Cricket Ground -one of the prettiest places to watch cricket in the world!

Nice, but i am not about to give up my day job!

Goodbye Heath

I don’t normally get upset by the passing of people I don’t have a personal relationship with and who I don’t know.

But today I am sad that someone who had genuine talent is sadly no longer with us.

He was brilliant in 10 Things I Hate About You, The Patriot and A Knight’s Tale. I have yet to see his amazing performances in Brokeback Mountain or Candy.

I’m sure that when Dark Knight (the new Batman film) is released, it will be a fitting tribute to his acting skill; complicated, revealing, moody, atmospheric and undeniably unique.

Heath Ledger was one of a kind.
