Bris v Llanelli

Last Sunday we had the hordes from over the Bridge visit the Mem!

As is usual with a Welsh side, Llanelli brougght lots of colourful and vocal fans! Some even more vocal than me!

The game was live on BBC2 and so you might have spotted me in the crowd or more likely heard me?! I have a reputation for being a tad outspoken…

Anyways, it was tough game but we sent the boys back to the Valleys having beaten them 18-11. They got a last minute try to make it more respectable. In truth we battered them upfront in the scrums and even our lineout worked. This despite the ref being utterly useless and frankly, crap.

Lee Robinson (above) and Andrew Blowers (left) scored our tries and in truth the whole pack played very well.

I was impressed again with Sean Hoeneck in the lineout but then he is a Waikato boy – and they are quality! Plus it helps him being 6ft 8″!

A few players did stand out and Tom Arscott was very good again at fullback as was Neil Brew at centre.

However, my man of the match was Nathan Budgett; an ongoing unsung hero, week in week out. Well done Budgie!

So, four wins out of four, an impressive live TV performance and a good beer in the pub afterwards with Mike, Becky and a few Llanelli fans (and what a good bunch they were!)

Onwards and upwards for Bris!

Am I lost or just less found
On the straight or on the roundabout of the wrong way?

Is this a soul that stirs in me,
Is it breaking free, wanting to come alive?

Because my comfort would prefer for me to be numb
And avoid the impending birth
Of who I was born to become

5 try feast of rugby

Despite the other rugby disappointments, Bristol managed to make the weekend enjoyable by thrashing Leeds 39-13.

It was great to see the boys really cutting loose and scoring some great tries!

Andrew Blowers came on and made an immediate impact by scoring a try and generally being a nuisance in true Aucklander style.

Alfie was back to his rampaging best! He was all over the field smashin into the Leeds players. he made 4 HUGE tackles (all legal!), which resulted in 3 Leeds players being substituted!

Not a bad return for an afternoon’s work and i am so glad he plays for us…

But man of the match was Neil Brew with two tries, great forward running and his usual solid defence!

Bring on Llanelli next week in the Cup!
